How to Get Pahang National Park, Sungai Relau, Merapoh, Pahang

Visitors can either drive or take a public transport to Merapoh via Kuala Lumpur – Kuala Lipis – Gua Musang – Kota Bharu road. Those taking the train, can stop at the nearest station – Merapoh Railway Station, Pahang.

Permit and Licence

Each visitor must obtain an entrance permit at RM1.00 / person. Fishing licence costs RM10.00 / rod while camera licence is RM5.00 / camera. 

Accommodation

There are accommodation provided nearby Taman Negara such as guest house and homestay managed by local communities.

Taman Negara provides camp site facilities renting with the fee of RM1.00 / person / night.

Other Facilities

Four-wheel drives from Sungai Relau to Kelah Kuala Juram Sanctuary and the beginning of the climb to Gunung Tahan in Kuala Juram charged of RM24.00 / person (minimum of 5 person / trip). RM100.00 / group with less than 5 person/trip.

Activities
Gunung Tahan HikingThe highest peak in Peninsular Malaysia takes at least 5 days to hike, conquering its challenging routes. Hikers are compulsory under lead and in sight of mountain guide. Recommended period to hike is from March to August.
4WD Night ObservationActivity to view nocturnal animals by 4WD.

Cave ExplorationGua Gajah is located 5.5 km away from Sg. Relau. Guide fees is RM150.00 per day (maximum 12 person)

Kelah Observation
  • There are 2 sanctuaries which are Sungai Relau Sanctuary and Kuala Juram Sanctuary (Fishing activity is prohibited).
  • A popular activity here is to watch the fish up close in their natural habitat, bathing along with kelah and to feed them.
Bird WatchingA variety of bird species have been identified in the area such as Rhinoceros Hornbill, Banded Pitta and White-rumped Shama.
Bumbun Rimau
  • Overnight fee RM5.00 per person per night.
  • Transportation charged RM12.00 per person (minimum of 5 persons per trip). RM50.00 per group with fewer than 4 persons per trip.
  • Among the common species found are elephant, tapir, and deer.
